What is an EPC?
An Energy Performance Certificate is an energy efficiency rating for your property. These are to ensure that homes are meeting efficiency targets and allowing home owners to identify areas of their home where they may be able to improve on saving on energy bills and increase the overall comfort of their living conditions.

An EPC tells you how efficient your home is and gives you a rating from A-G. It then gives you a personalised list of home improvements that can increase your homes EPC rating.
It also estimates how much energy your household currently uses and then shows you how much energy you can save by making the suggested improvements.

How is an EPC Calculated?
An EPC takes approximately 45mins and the qualified assessor will need entry to every room in your home so they can take photos and notes on how the home is built. The assessor may ask the home owner some questions such as whether you have your heating on a timer and if so when it switches on and off.
Once the assessor has collected all of the information he/she will enter the information provided into the online tool that has been personalised for Jersey homes.
The assessor will then send you a copy and will be happy to answer any questions in regards to the results.
When do you need an EPC?
Many clients want to have an EPC report to see why there energy bills are so high and what improvements they can make to ensure there home is more energy efficient.

If you are applying for an extension or internal alterations to your home you will require an EPC for you Bye-Law Application.
